HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 2062. I've been enjoying getting to sleep in this week. Yesterday Randy left with the boys to take them to kindergarten/soccer camp, while Tammy was on her tablet, and I went back to bed. Eventually I got up and went to the kitchen to cook lunch. Then Tammy and I sat down to eat, and Randy ate after returning home with Sammy at 12:40 pm. I turned my computer on to deal with a situation that needed my immediate attentioned and soured my day. Plus, I was not looking forward to my dentist's appointment. Eventually Randy took Tammy and Sammy downstairs, while I left the house at 2 pm.
I took the subway downtown and walked to the dentist's office, where I arrived just after 2:30 pm. Even though the waiting room was empty, I had to wait until just before 3 pm before I was called into the doctor's office. 15 months ago a dead tooth of mine had crumbled and something provisionary was put there. In January that crumbled the day before we were to leave on vacation, so I went to the medical university clinic to get it capped. However, it was time for a permanent solution. I switched dentist this year, and the new one suggested a bridge with a fake tooth in the spot where the crumbled one was. I was shocked when I was told it would cost 3000€, but it was the best solution.
Today the time had come to start the process. First, they had to remove the remains of that old tooth. It was my first time getting tooth pulled. He gave me a shot to numb the area, then removed the tooth, then sewed it up. It was all done. I returned to the waiting room, then I was called into the dental technician's room. They asked me whether I could wait a week for my temporary bridge; I'll get the permanent one in June. Then I sat down in the dental chair, and the nice technician told me he was going to scan all my teeth with a scanning stick attached to a computer. And off he went. He let me see the 3D picture on the screen - and even let me take a photo - and I was very impressed. Gone are the days of molds made of your teeth.
I was done for the day - a lot earlier than expected, as they had told me it would take 2.5 hours. Since I already have a dentist's appointment for next week for a filling, they'll just give me the temporary bridge then.
I left and stopped at the pharmacy to pick up antibiotics and pain medication, then bought some colors for eggs at the supermarket there. I got on the subway to go home, but got off one stop early, as it was 4 pm - the time when Emmy's camp ended for the day. Randy had had to take Tammy and Sammy with him to go pick up Emmy, and I decided to wait for them there, right by the icecream shop where we could all get some icecream. I knew I'd probably have to wait at least 20 minutes, and so I sat there and waited.
It was extremely windy, and dark clouds were filling the sky more and more. When they had still not arrived by 4:35, I called Randy. I had wanted to surprise them. Randy told me they had gone to the playground right there, which was the reason they had not arrived yet. He said they'd leave right away, and I asked him not to tell the kids where I was. It was close to 5 pm before they finally arrived. Tammy and Emmy ran to me. Then we bought some icecream. It was too windy to eat it right there, so we went inside the subway building. Once we were done eating, we got on the subway and rode it the one stop home.
At 6 pm I went to the kitchen to make their dinner which started our evening routine. And of course we still found time to do piano practice.
This morning was different from the other days of this week. I had put the lice shampoo on the kids over night as it said you should do it again 10 days after the first time, and so I had to get up this morning and comb their hair, then wash it. It was raining hard outside, and Emmy was having a fit as he didn't want to wear raingear. Once Randy had finally left with the boys, I took care of Tammy's hair which is harder as it's longer. Then I did my own hair.
I still had about half an hour to lie down, but i never got to go back to sleep. I gave Tammy an Easter tablecloth made of paper that she could color, and she was excited and went straight to work. I was shocked a few hours later, when I saw that she had completed 98% of the tablecloth and not left anything for Emmy to color!
At 10 am I started teaching and taught until 12:30 with a short break in between. Randy heated up leftovers for himself and Tammy and was gone to get Sammy by the time I was done teaching. I then warmed some food up for myself and ate it while wrapping everything up regarding my completed lesson. Randy and Sammy returned, I got ready, and at about 1 pm we all left the house together.
Thankfully it had finally stopped raining. I felt for Emmy who'd had to play in the rain, and it was also a lot cooler than yesterday. We took the subway for one stop, then had to wait quite long for the bus we rode for one stop. Tammy and I had our scooters with us, and we were carrying Emmy's scooter, as it was a long walk from the bus stop to the soccer fields. Tammy and I went ahead to get there faster as Emmy's final match had already started at 1 pm. We missed the first of the three rounds he played.
When we got there, Emmy was not playing, but two other teams were. There were four teams in total. Emmy was playing with another boy on the side or on the other field. Tammy and I sat down to watch. Later Randy and Sammy joined us. Emmy said that his team had won the first match. And they won the other two matches as well.
Sammy was doing really well; he had his headset to listen to stories or songs. And there was a lady who works at his therapy center who knew Sammy and Sammy knew her, and they interacted some. Tammy was somewhat bored.
Just after 2 pm all the teams were done playing, and the trainers left to tally everything up. A few minutes later they carried the table with the trophies to the lawn, and the four teams lined up. The main trainer took the mic and spoke; he's also Emmy's trainer in his weekly course. The top three teams all had 6 points, and Emmy's team came second. I later asked one of the trainers standing near me how they determined who came first etc. if they all had the same number of points, and he told me it then depends on the number of goals they won each match by. All the members of Emmy's team got silver medals, and they lined up for a group picture. On the video, you can hear winning team cheer as Emmy's team is announced second.
Emmy came to me and showed me his medal, and I took a picture. Then I saw that they were taking a group picture of all the kids in the camp, so I told Emmy to quickly join them, but he didn't make it in time. He was very upset.
It had started raining again which is why they handed out the certificates under the roof instead of with the medals. I took it and put it into a bag to keep it dry. Then Emmy said that his gift of a bag with the football school logo had been torn by some kid, so I went to the trainer and asked whether they had another one, and Emmy got another one. At home we discovered that it was not torn, just turned inside out.
Randy was putting the rain coats on all the kids, which took some time, and suddenly we were the last ones there. Emmy's trainer then came to us and started praising Emmy with the highest praises. He said that he had never seen a kid who when he gets hurt gets right back up and continues playing. He also said that he's very gifted and always stays on the ball. I then told him that he had a trial training with kids his age for one of the biggest soccer clubs in the city in a few weeks, and he actually said that Emmy had a chance. I was impressed. Emmy had clearly been the smallest of the all the kids in the camp, even though there were a few other small kids. I told his trainer that Emmy was also very good at playing tennis and playing the piano, and he was surprised to hear that Emmy does all that.
We left and walked all the way back to the bus stop. The rain was letting up again, thank God. We rode the bus and then the subway and were back home by 3:10 pm.
It was pretty visible how tired Emmy was; playing in the rain must have been a lot more tiring. But it was time to color some eggs. When I got the egg colors out, they were completely dried out as they had expired a year ago. I then asked Randy to run to the supermarket to buy some more colors that were not expired. We waited in in the meantime. We had succeeded in coloring a few eggs with the old colors. Sammy wanted to try too but the eggs were too hot for him as they had to be put to be colored.
The new colors were a lot better, and we could have colored a lot more eggs than the 20 we had. In any case, we had all colored our hands as well. We let the eggs dry and then put them in a bowl. It was their first time coloring eggs at home. In the past they had painted plastic eggs with special acrylic pens.
After we were done, we went downstairs for piano practice, then I went to the kitchen to make their dinner, which started our evening routine. Now it's 1:15 am and time to take care of the kitchen. I have an early morning tomorrow.
