Day 1964. Thank God the past night was better than the night before. But my first alarm already went off at 6:30 am. Randy got up and made breakfast, and I was able to get Tammy and Emmy up to go eat. At 7:30 my second alarm went off, but I was already on my feet before then. At 7:45 we all left the house together, over half an hour earlier than usual.

We walked to the subway, and after two stops Randy and the kids got off to drop Sammy off at his kindergarten. I continued on the subway, got off downtown, then took a tram for one stop. Then I had some walking to do before I got to the university dental clinic. Last night a provisional cap on a dead tooth had crumbled, leaving me with sharp edges. As we leave on our vacation tomorrow morning, I knew I had to take care of it before our trip, and as my dentist's office was closed today, I didn't have many options. What annoyed me most was that I had to cancel my student's 10 am lesson because of it.

I had never been to the university dental clinic but it was easy to find. I found registration, had to fill out a form, they scanned it, then told me to go have my teeth x-rayed. When I got there, there were no people waiting, and so it was soon my turn. They did the x-ray, then sent me to the waiting room.

And that's where all the people were. I sat down right by the door and the screen that showed who was being called inside and to what booth. I was extremely tired after only about 4 hours of sleep and closed my eyes for much of the time, but unfortunately there was no sound when a new name came up on the screen and so I had to constantly open them to see whether my name was up there. I had arrived at the clinic just after 8 am, but time was passing, and my name was not coming up. A good number of people that had arrived after me had been called in, and so I finally went inside to ask whether they had me on the list. I was the second person to be called in after that, and it was nearly 10 am.

I had a young lady doctor taking care of me, and she was a bit condescending. She removed the remaining pieces of the cap and put a new one on it. Now I really have to get a move on the implant to go in that spot.

I was glad to leave there and make my way back home, where I arrived around 10:40 am. Randy was just taking down the suitcases and getting stuff out to take on our trip. I was so extremely tired that all I wanted to lie down and get a nap, and I did. At 12:30 my alarm woke me up, and a few minutes later I left the house to go pick up Sammy from kindergarten. Rand had already left before 11:30 am to pick up Tammy and Emmy and take them to their tennis class. However, he left an hour too early and they ended up at their class an hour too early and only figured it out then. I felt bad as I had been so tired that I had told Randy the wrong time to leave the house.

Sammy was very happy to see me, when I arrived to pick him up. He showed me what he had made in kindergarten today. Then he said good-bye to everyone, including the people we passed on the way out.

Back home, I got something to eat, and so did Sammy. Then it was time to start packing. I felt better and up for the task. I laid out our three suitcases and started packing, while helping Sammy, when he needed it, which was very often. Then I sat down to get everything ready for my 4 pm student. Thankfully it was the student who always comes late. He still wasn't there by 4:15 pm, when Randy and the kids returned home. By 4:20 I texted him to ask whether he was still coming, and then he did.

I had another student after him and taught until 6 pm. I had already made their bread for dinner, so they could eat it before 6 pm, which they did. But before going to the kitchen to cut up their fruit, I wanted them to help me pack their stuff. They helped me choosing the shirts they wanted. I did some more packing, then they went into the bathtub where I took their fruit for them to eat.

After they had their pj's on and I'd put Sammy to bed, I read Tammy and Emmy a story, but couldn't finish the chapter as the tiredness had caught up with me again.  After they had brushed their teeth, they went to bed, and I went to the kitchen to get myself something to eat. I sat down and ate, getting a much-needed break, and I did not rush. Once the tiredness had subsided and I was ready to get back to work, I continued packing and finished what I could do tonight. Then I sat back down at the computer. Emmy woke up crying and lay down next to me, but I later took him back to his bed. I took care of the dishes in the kitchen and turned the dishwasher on. Then Randy went to bed while I was still writing this report. After a while Tammy came and lay down between us. Now it's 1 am, and I'd better go to bed myself, as we have yet again an early morning to catch our train to the mountains.
