Day 1743. On Saturday they had piano class. Randy took them there, while I stayed home with Sammy. They had to choose which song they are going to play at the concert in two weeks, and they each picked a different one. They have to practice it this week and play it for the teacher this coming Saturday. She'll then decide whether they play it well enough for the concert.

While there were in class, I was making lunch, so that we could soon sit down to have lunch after they returned. I was so tired that I lay down eventually, but I failed to set an alarm and no one woke me up. It was nearly 3:30 pm, when I looked at the time, and we were supposed to take the 3:32 train. And so we got ready right away and took the 3:56 train instead.

That meant it was 4:20 by the time we got to church, which was not as late as I thought we'd be. We went to the front and side, and Sammy crawled to the stage and pulled himself up. He was watching the drummer. Emmy then joined him there, and Tammy also joined them briefly.

Just after 4:30 Randy took them to the kids' program. I stayed in the sanctuary, as I was gonna give an update on the trial in Mali. The church prayed for Mali after, and I sat back down.

At some point Randy brought Sammy to me, as he'd been whining for me. But we couldn't stay in the sanctuary, so we all went back to the kids' program room.

When I walked in, they were having snack time. There were two other kids in the room. They had already had teaching time. Randy then took off with Sammy so he could ride his horse, and I saw no more point in staying and returned to the sanctuary.

After the service we stayed a little to talk to a few people, then we went home, where I gave them some food, but it was too late for the bathtub. Still, for the first time I noticed that Emmy sure had a lot of bumps on his back. I had thought he had some mosquito bites, but looking at his back, it became clear that this was something else, probably a childhood disease. He'd had elevated temperature, earache and a sore throat at different times during the past week. Randy mentioned the measles epidemic, but my guess was chickenpox.

And so Randy took Emmy to the hospital on Sunday morning. Because Tammy had just a few bumps on her legs that I had thought were mosquito bites, she went with them. And so Sammy and I stayed home together. However, they came home before I could start making lunch. The doctor had confirmed that it was chickenpox, and they said that Tammy had it too and that Sammy would also get it. We got something to put on the bumps to dry them out as well as some medicine they need to swallow.

And so we stayed home the rest of the day. We were all downstairs, where we continued moving stuff to their new spots, since I moved my office spot not too long ago. The kids helped somewhat, and we had a good time together. I printed out their songs to practice, and both of them practiced a little. Tammy is the one who doesn't want to practice. Tammy also made a hairband with her beads.

Given the new situation, nobody had to go to kindergarten this morning, or rather, they were not allowed to go. And then Sammy's horse therapy was also canceled. That meant we got to sleep in, and everyone actually slept a little longer than on a usual workday. We were downstairs, where I tried to work in my new office, but kids constantly come to me. I eventually went upstairs to cook lunch, we ate, and at some point went back downstairs. I tried to get them to practice the piano again.

Some time after 2 pm I went upstairs with Tammy and dressed her for their ball-playing class. It was the last one of this academic year. Emmy was crying hard because he also wanted to come really bad. However, he had bumps everywhere, so it was not possible, as much as I wanted to take him. He has no other symptoms. Tammy and I left the house at 2:30, with our scooters, took the subway and then the tram and got to the school early. It was nice to have some mother-daughter time, as I have the least one-on-one time with her.

At first there were only 3 kids in class, but then it was about 5 kids plus siblings. During free play in the beginning Tammy gathered all the red balls together and played with me. Then the teachers set up a fancy parcours around the room, and leaned several mats against the walls to use as hiding places. It was the first time they got the climbing ropes out. I felt bad that Emmy wasn't there to try them out. He's quite good at sports.

They then played a few rounds of Hide & Seek and had lots of fun. Then they got to go through the parcours. They had to climb up the vaulting box and throw a ball through a hoop and then jump off. And they had to throw a ball to make bowling pins fall, as well as roll a ball to make them fall. Tammy was playing with one of the girls quite a bit, and then with a boy a well. In any case, she had lots of fun. In July they have a week-long sports camp with this ball-playing school. The teachers said they might see them there.

The class was over, and Tammy and I took our scooters to head back home. We took the tram, but did not get on the subway. Instead we stayed on the tram and got closer to our house, then used the scooters to go the rest of the way home, where we arrived earlier then usual, at 4:20 pm.

The boys were happy to see us, but I had to get ready for my 4:40 pm student, then I had another one, teaching all the way until 6:30 pm. Then I went to the kitchen to make food for the hungry kids, which is the beginning of our evening routine.
