Day 1691. My student had to cancel both her lessons yesterday morning and this morning. I had another lesson scheduled at 11 am yesterday, but the new student didn't show up. I taught from 2:30 to 3:20 pm yesterday, then I got the kids ready to leave the house for their dance class. I stayed home with Sammy, while Randy took them there.

Today the kids were all still at their kindergartens, when I got the news that our family friend Sonja had died this morning. We had been visiting her every weekend as possible and saw her last Sunday. I was devastated and grieving. At 12:40 Randy dropped Sammy off at home and left again to get the other two. I was wondering whether I should tell all three kids at the same time, but then I told Sammy that Sonja had gone to be with Jesus. He asked a few questions and then continued playing. Sammy had been the one initiating us praying for Sonja many times.

It was 2:15 pm before Randy came home with the other two. Somehow it's not possible to get home faster. I sat down with Tammy and Emmy right away to tell them. They didn't say much, as we had talked about the possibilty of Sonja going to Jesus in heaven before. Tammy then did a few drawings of herself with Sonja. Then it wasn't a topic any more. As for me, I've been grieving all day and still am. She's left a hole in our lives.

I looked at Emmy's toe, when he got home, as the bandaid had come off, and did not like at all what I saw. Randy had carried him again because it was hurting so bad. His toe was red and swollen. It was worse than when we went to the hospital on Tuesday. We talked and decided it was time to take Emmy back to the hospital. I was teaching from 3 to 6 pm, so I couldn't take him. Randy then decided to take him. That meant that he had to take Sammy with him as well, as I would not be able to teach with Sammy at home. And so Tammy was the only one staying home, enjoying her tablet, while I was teaching. Randy left with the boys just after I had started teaching at 3 pm. I was surprised, when they already returned home at 5:15 pm. The hospital just gave us a different cream to put on Emmy's toe, that's it. They didn't do anything but to put a new bandage on it. And so Emmy got his footbath again tonight, and then the new cream before I put the bandaid on. He was very tired tonight, and has been, but I don't know whether that's because of the toe or the new experience of kindergarten every day. Please pray for his toe's restoration; I don't like that it isn't getting any better.
