HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 1669. On Tuesday Sammy was back in kindergarten after our time away at the missions conference and then the horse therapy on Monday. He was really happy to see everyone again, especially the one teacher who was sick the two weeks before that he hadn't seen in a long time. After two days in kindergarten, he was home again today as he had a fever.
Tuesday was our day at home, with the kids having no classes in the afternoon. But for me it was a really long day of teaching. I started at 9 am, teaching for an hour, then working. I was glad, when my 2 pm student canceled, but I still had 4 more hours to teach after that. Randy left with Sammy to go to the shoe store, as he had a fitting for his new, special shoes. In the evening, I tried to rush dinner and getting them to bed, as I had a 8 pm student. I've had that student three nights in a row now, also yesterday and tonight, as she had paused for a few weeks and was trying to make up for it.
Yesterday I was glad not to have any students or commitments in the morning, which allowed me to sleep in a little after a short night, and then to do office work. In the afternoon Randy took Tammy and Emmy to their exercise class, while Sammy and I stayed home. The S-train that runs every half hour and that is an important connection for us is not running for the next 4 months, so I already knew they had to take the regular train at 3:30 pm. Those trains also run about every half hour. Unfortunately, the 3:30 train was canceled yesterday, which was very annoying. They had to wait for half an hour, so that the kids missed the first third of the class, when they already missed last week's class because of our trip.
Sammy and I had a good time at home, playing and having fun, while I did lots of scanning of school books for my students. I sure needed that time. Just after 5:30 pm Randy and the kids returned, and at 5:40 I started teaching. I finished at 6:30 and quickly went to the kitchen to make dinner, then go through our evening routine before teaching at 8 pm. And it worked out.
Last night, Sammy was already restless in his sleep before midnight. When I touched him, I could tell he had a fever. He then had a really bad night after midnight. I went to bed late, close to 2 am, and Tammy and Emmy soon joined me in bed. Then Sammy started crying. He didn't want Daddy but Mommy. So I lay down next to him, which was the only thing that calmed him down. I left once he was asleep, but a few minutes later he called for me again, so I returned to lie down next to him again. Eventually I left again to return to the two kids in my own bed, which wasn't very comfortable, as our bed is too small for four people. Needless to say, it was short and restless night.
This morning Randy got up to feed the kids and then take them downstairs to play - all three of them. They came back upstairs late morning, and Randy left to run some errands. Sammy had a fever all day, but he had a long 3+ hour nap in the afternoon and felt much better after. So far he has been sleeping peacefully tonight.
At 2 pm, Randy went downstairs again with the kids for them to play, but they didn't stay long because of Sammy. They all came back upstairs, and Randy sat down with Sammy, both of them taking a nap, Sammy on Daddy's chest. Emmy and Tammy painted (plastic) Easter eggs again, just like they had done yesterday.
At 3:30 pm I started getting them ready for their dance class. Randy was supposed to take them there, while I stayed home with Sammy. I had lots of office work yet to accomplish. However, it was last second that I was the one to take them after all. Tammy, Emmy and I left just before 4 pm, while Daddy had a nice break, as Sammy slept nearly the whole time we were gone.
The three of us took the subway, then a tram, then walked to the dance school. Even though I hadn't planned to leave the house, I enjoyed spending time with my kids. At the dance school, I stayed in the lobby, while they had their class. I was on my phone and catching up on the free daily papers from the subway that I never get to read. After class we went back home, where we arrived at about 6 pm. I went straight to the kitchen to make their dinner, then we went through our evening routine. A new nightgown had arrived for Tammy, and it included the identical nightgown for her doll. And so Tammy wanted to put it on tonight and asked me to put it on her beloved rabbit, which I did. Then I took that picture of a very happy Tammy.
I got everything done before my 8 pm student, even reading a story to them. Then I taught from 8 to 9 pm; Sammy was still awake after I was done since he had slept so long in the afternoon. Randy and I then had a Zoom meeting from 10 to 11 pm, then I decided to write this report on the last three days. I should make it to bed a little earlier tonight.
