HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 1598. What a week it's been! Nothing like planned!
On Sunday I had registered us for a movie theater visit at 11 am. They were showing "Laura's Star". It was a really nice movie. After the theater, we had lunch at McDonald's, then we went home. And that's when it started. I was so glad to be home and fell straight into bed. I knew I wasn't up for going to church at night. It soon turned out that I wasn't just tired but was sick.
It was my first bad night having a fever, not sleeping well and alternating between being hot and cold. I felt terrible all day on Monday and had to cancel all my lessons. The kids didn't havy any classes. Sammy went back to kindergarten after a two-week break.
Normally they have their ice-skating class on Tuesday. It was a bitter-cold day, going all the way down to minus 8 degrees Celsius. However, because we're going on vacation on Saturday and return the following Saturday, they're missing two of their piano classes. As they had two additional ice-skating classes during the Christmas holiday, I decided to let them go do a make-up piano class instead of ice-skating. Considering the cold, it was also a good decision. Randy took them there, while I stayed home with Sammy. I was still feeling terrible and had canceled my 2 pm lesson, but Sammy was playing with Mommy, no matter how I felt.
Randy and the kids returned at 5:30 pm, and I had NOT canceled my 5:40 pm lesson, as the student really needed it, and felt like I'd be able to do it. However, I was glad, when my student said she could only do 35 minutes.
After a second horrible night and still high fever but nothing else; I decided to go to the doctor's on Tuesday morning, also because of our upcoming vacation, so I'd be sure to be recovered by then. I was not happy to have to go outside in this bittercold weather, and then I had to sit in the doctor's waiting room for over 90 minutes before I was called in. She tested me for Covid first thing (negative), then just gave me paracetamol and other stuff, which wasn't really much use. Because I had been there so long, I had texted Randy that he needed to take Tammy and Emmy with him to go pick up Sammy from kindergarten. I had just gotten off the subway and got on the elevator, when the other elevator opened up and Randy and the kids came out. They were so happy to see me and went home with me, while Randy went to get Sammy by himself.
Last night the unavoidable manifested - Tammy had a high fever and a terrible night, and Emmy also kept coming and going, while I myself still had a fever. It was a mess! At one point I left Tammy and Emmy in my bed and went to the top bunk so I had some room to sleep. Of course Emmy joined me up there a few minutes later. And when Tammy whined because I was gone, I left Emmy up there and returned to my bed.
Tammy has had a high fever all day as well, doing much sleeping and spending most of the day in bed. At one point she became a bit more lively and was playing, after I had given her some fever-reducing syrup. Later in the morning it became clear that Emmy was sick as well, and he soon also started having a high fever. There was no going to their exercise class today. Randy took them downstairs early in the afternoon, and later carried a sleeping Emmy to me, saying he had already spent an hour sleeping downstairs with him. He then slept another hour in my arms before going to his own bed. When they didn't sleep, they were on their tablets.
I had two students scheduled today, and I did both my lessons, even though I'm still not well. I've also not had any appetite and eaten little. After having eaten a little, I felt better for a short time and was able to do my 5:30 pm lesson.
Sammy had already been up at 6 am this morning and was pretty tired. The two sick kids had hardly eaten anything all day, but Tammy agreed to have some vegetable soup and apple, and Emmy some pretztels and apple. Sammy was hungry and ate what they usually eat. I gave him a quick rinse, prayed for him, and put him to bed, and he was soon asleep, even though it was earlier than usual. As for the other two, I agreed to read them a little book, prayed for them and then stayed with them on the top bunk, one on each side, so they could cuddle, as they had requested. However, i had an 8 pm student and needed to stay aware of the time. At 7:45 pm I left them and got ready for my student. I taught until 9 pm, then got myself something to eat. After having eaten, I was back on the computer. Emmy came and left once, then came again, wanting to lie down next to me. He slept there for quite some time. Then Tammy woke up crying and insisting she'd lie down by me. I carried Emmy to his bed and let Tammy climb in instead. I measured her fever, and it was really high (39.5 C). We then gave her a suppository, which she was not happy about, and now she's lying next to me. Let's hope this is not going to be a night as rough as the last one.
