HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 1793. Yesterday was Day 1 of their third and last sports camp this summer. Next week they're going back to kindergarten. This week they're doing a ball-playing camp with the same school where they've taken a ball-playing class the first half of this year. In fact, they knew one of the teachers there.
Because it was Day 1, the five of us all left the house together at 8 am. We first took Sammy to kindergarten, then we took the subway and the tram and got off one stop before where we would get off to take them to kindergarten, so it's pretty close to there. From there we still had some walking to do to get to the entrance of the sports club, in fact a soccer club, and it's all outside. We registered them, got T-shirts for them and took them to their locker rooms, where they left their backpacks. Then we walked all the way to the field in the back, where lots of kids were already playing. The guy taking us there told us that there were 38 kids registered for this week. Once we had reached the back, the kids put their water bottles down and went on the field to play, waving good-bye to us. No crying from Tammy. Randy and I left and walked back to the tram stop to go home. In fact, I went home, while Randy stopped at the post office and grocery store.
I lay back down to get some sleep. The past two nights I've slept little. The kids were putting training pants on for two nights in a row instead of diapers. While Tammy got up during the night to go to the bathroom, Emmy woke up all wet and crying both nights, and as his bed was wet, he ended up sleeping in our bed, just like Tammy, and our bed is simply too small for 4 people. It was terrible, even more so because it's so hot right now. Tonight Emmy has diapers on again, so I'm hoping for some good sleep. Tammy has been doing well; it looks like she's done using diapers at night.
Yesterday we had some leftovers at lunch. We then went downstairs, where I tried to do some office work, and Randy and Sammy were also downstairs. Just before 2:30 pm we all left the house together to go pick up the kids from their ball-playing camp. We took the bus and the tram and got there just before 3 pm, which is the time the camp was ending. The kids picked up their bottles and ran to us, then we went to the locker rooms to gather up their stuff. Emmy's towel was missing. Coming back upstairs and walking outside, I could see his towel hanging on the railing to dry in the sun. They've put up a little baby pool for them to have fun in and cool off, as it's so hot. I walked really fast to go get the towel and return to the others, and my leg hit this metal barrier hard. There was a little ledge sticking out of it that I had not seen. It had cut my leg right open, and I could see right away that it was deep, as my skin was folded over. Blood was running down my leg. I flipped the skin back in place, and someone asked one of the teachers for a bandaid. He had to go to his car to get his first-aid kit and put a big bandaid on top of the wound. Then we left to go home. I figured that it needed sewing up, but I was in no mood to sit in a hospital waiting room for hours.
This morning, Randy took Sammy to kindergarten and then went on to the American consulate to apply for a new passport that he needs for his permit to stay in Austria. And so I was the one to take Tammy and Emmy to their camp. As it was just the three of us, we took our scooters. We got on the bus and then the tram, then were thankful to have the scooters for the long walk to the entrance of the soccer club. And so they got there about ten minutes early; the official start is at 9 am. They walked right out onto the field, and Tammy picked up some sticks, while Emmy started playing with the balls. He's been interested in soccer, even playing it at home recently, and he was bragging about the goals he achieved.
I took my scooter and returned to the tram stop to go home. Just before walking into our apartment, the scooter hit my little toe while I was carrying it, and it hit it so hard that it pulled my nail off. It was pretty painful. Back home I lay down for a nap, but somehow I never got to fall asleep. Then Randy returned and told me about his experience at the consulate. In the end I got up and prepared for my 12 pm student. Before I started teaching, I put some food into the oven for Randy. Randy left right after I had started teaching to go get Sammy. Even though Sammy eats at kindergarten at 11:30, he always eats some more at home with Randy, when he eats his lunch after coming home with Sammy. I quickly ate a few bites as well at 1 pm before starting my second hour with the same student. After I was done at 2 pm, we went downstairs. Randy left at 2:15 pm to go pick up the kids. Sammy was happy to have some alone time with Mommy.
However, I was extremely tired. Instead of turning my computer back on to work, I lay down on the couch and then on the floor, right by Sammy who was happy about it. I then had a good time with Sammy, and I got to lay still and close my eyes for a few minutes, which was helpful. After a long time, I finally got up and turned my computer on to so some much-needed work. Randy and the kids returned later than expected, as they had been looking for some of the kids' items they couldn't find. I hugged the kids and asked them about their day. Yesterday they had played soccer and field hockey, amongst other games. Today they didn't name any specific games, but they had gone into the baby pool again. They'd had a good time.
I then let them play, Randy being with them, and went into my office to do office work. I didn't have any more students today, but I have the next three days after they get home. At 5:30 pm we went upstairs, and I started making their food early. Emmy is always really tired after the camp, in danger of falling asleep on public transportation on the way home. Tonight he had one of his fits that he has over stupid things, when he's this tired. He couldn't even listen to the bedtime story. I kept it short and put them to bed after praying for them. And Tammy and Emmy fell asleep quickly.
