HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Day 1470. Tammy had to sleep in our bed last night, while the boys had a bed to themselves. Emmy came and went a few times, and then Tammy went to his bed and took his place, as Emmy was with us. So there was quite some movement last night. My alarm went off at 8:15 am, as I had to teach at 9 am. We got up and found that our friends had made breakfast. I quickly ate a little bit, then turned my computer on to get ready for my student. While I taught, Randy and the kids were having breakfast with our friends.
I finished teaching before 10 am, then we all got ready to leave the house, which we did at 10:30. Our friends had suggested we'd go to the Mayborn Museum Complex which is part of Baylor University, as it was a hands-on museum, where kids could do lots of stuff. It sounded great, so off we went. Only the Mom of the family could join us.
Just before 11 am we walked into the museum, and the first thing they saw was the huge skeleton of a dinosaur. It was their first time seeing something like that, and they were impressed. Then we walked right into the discovery side of the museum.
First we found a playground-type area, which they just loved. They spent a lot of time there and could have stayed even longer. Emmy loves firefighters, which was very obvious there. He put a helmet on and sat down at the steering wheel of the firetruck, where he spent a lot of time. He was even more excited, when he found the firefighter costume and put it on as well. Tammy put on a doctor's costume, but she didn't wear it for long. She enjoyed the little supermarket, where she went shopping. Sammy also went there and scanned food items, making it beep. And he loved the lawn mower.
We moved on and went from room to room, each one with a different theme and different things to do. Sammy was excited about the water, and there was also a sea turtle that they enjoyed. In the end it stretched its neck under water to get some air, which was quite impressive. Who would have thought it had such a long neck.
I think the bubble room was one of their favorites. Even though Emmy slipped on soap water on the floor right away and got partly bathed in it. He was crying hard, and we wiped all the soap water off of him. They then enjoyed it, when they stood on a platform, and we pulled a bubble up around them so they were inside. They also had a bubble curtain you could pull up, and Sammy loved making it pop.
There was a music room, where you could create music in all types of different ways, and then there was a dinosaur room, where they projected dinosaurs on a screen that also showed everyone in the room. It looked like the dinosaurs were coming for those in the room, and the kids greatly enjoyed it, fighting valiantly against them. Emmy rescued his siblings from the dinosaurs a few times.
There was also a Western room, and a tea party room, then we returned downstairs and went to the other wing of the museum, which was more like a traditional museum. We walked rather quickly through it. In any case it was very well done.
Once back at the entrance, it was going on 1 pm, so it was definitely time to make our way back home. It was a very hot day. We got back into the car, and arrived back at the house at 1:10 pm. The husband of the family had already put pizzas into the oven, so we were able to eat right away. They were really good. Then I had to leave again to get ready for my 2:30 pm student. I taught until 3:30, while the Randy and the kids were in the living room playing and having fellowship with our friends. After I was done teaching, we put the kids down for a nap. They had not had any these past few days because of the time change. Today I was extremely tired myself, and they didn't want to sleep, so I eventually gave up on trying to get them to and let them go. As for me, however, I did lie down and got some sleep, thank God.
At 5 pm I was back up and did some office work. The kids were having fun, and were also watching some cartoons. At 6 pm we all sat down to have dinner, then they continued playing and started watching Superbook, while I sat in the living room with them and was working on my computer doing office work.
Just after 8 pm we took them to the bathroom to get them showered and then ready for bed. Sammy was clearly very tired. Before we put them to bed, we still took a picture with our friends. Sammy has been enjoying the dog a lot.
By 9 pm they were in bed, and I still read them a bedtime story. Then I prayed for them and turned the lights off. Sammy was asleep rather quickly, not so much the others. They were still awake, when I left the room to work on my computer, but soon fell asleep.
And now it's already 1 am, having accomplished a lot, and prepared for my 2 hours of teaching in the morning. I have another short night ahead, and tomorrow we'll be driving all day again, over 400 miles.
