20 months 9 days

Last night I had too much to do and did not make it to bed before 1 am. And after a week without milk, Sammy had milk at night again. Tammy is now weaning herself off too, so only Emmy needs a full bottle every night. I have three packs of milk left, and I will not buy any more after that.

We got up at our regular 8 am time this morning, though we hear them whine, cry or talk before that. After breakfast, I cleaned them up and dressed them and took Emmy and Tammy downstairs. Emmy does not need my hand now to go down the stairs, but is sitting down and sliding from step to step on his behind. Tammy has one hand on the wall and is holding my hand with her other one and walking down that way.

We were reading the two new books with construction and vehicle sounds, and they were very interested. Once Randy came downstairs, I went upstairs to clean up and then work. Sonja arrived just after 9 am - thank God - as Randy had already come upstairs with Sammy to get him and himself ready to leave at 9:30 for his weekly physiotherapy session. Sonja spent all morning with them, while I was working.

It was food jar day, and fish day, which they get to eat once a week. Once again it was the last jars of that "flavor" we were using up. At 11:30 they came upstairs to eat, and they liked that fish jar, eating it all, plus watermelon and yoghurt. Then I put Emmy to bed, while Sonja took Tammy downstairs. Without Sammy there, Emmy had no one to entertain who would laugh, and so he fell asleep pretty quickly, even though it was still rather early. I was amazed and was able to bring Tammy upstairs early than expected to put her to bed. She now requires her doll to lie down with her, but only at nap time.

I went to work cleaning up, when Randy already arrived with Sammy who was asleep in the stroller, which is rare. Today Sammy's session was in the swimming pool, and it was once again a big fail, like last time. Ever since the pandemic stopped their swim class half a year ago, they have not been in a pool. I guess he's not used to it any more. He slept at least another half hour in the stroller, and that was his only nap of the day. Randy then tried to give him his lunch, but he wasn't really hungry. I weighed him tonight, and he weighed the same as a week ago.

I was getting ready to leave just after 1 pm. Before I could leave, Emmy already woke up, after about an hour of sleep, and he wasn't going back to sleep, so he went downstairs to play with Sonja and his brother.

I left to go to my appointment at the eye doctor's. A few months ago the little ones were the first ones to go there, and I liked the place and made an appointment for myself. It's the first doctor in our neighborhood that we have picked. I had to take a bus and got there on time. There was a long line, and little did I know I'd be there for nearly two hours. I had not expected that and was getting antsy to get back home. I have not updated my glasses for decades (since I wear contacs) and got a new prescription for glasses. We also talked about my eye condition that has been exacerbated by the lack of sleep and busy-ness with the little ones, and they agreed that at this point there's no need to do anything. They ended up doing another test which I had to pay and only showed that everything's fine.

I was glad to leave there and get to take my mask off on the street. Wearing it while they checked my eye sight, the lenses would fog up constantly. I walked towards home and passed by a grocery store that I went into to get a few items. I never get to go to a grocery store, as Randy does that, and so certain things I never get. I was glad when I got back home at 4 pm, later than expected. It was a rather warm and beautiful day, though windy, and so I took some pants downstairs to put on the little ones so we could open the door and go outside the apartment.

First we opened the sandbox, and they started playing in it. Whenever the wind picked up, Emmy got a little scared. But they had lots of fun. I put Sammy on his belly as well, with his face over the sand, and he tried to eat it! Tammy and Emmy had fun throwing the sand, especially with the wind, and we asked them not to do that. We finally decided to put the toys away and close the sandbox back up.

Then we got the cars out, and I pushed first Tammy, then Emmy up and down the path. Neither one wanted to get out and let the other ride. I tried to put Emmy behind his sister, and once he got stuck there, which was fun to see, but not fun for him. I then put Emmy on my shoulders while pushing Tammy, and that satisfied him for a while.

They were also climbing on top of the benches, and Emmy one time kept hitting our neighbors' window. They find a stick and enjoyed hitting stuff with it, but we had to stop that, as it was a little dangerous.

Sammy was a bit cranky, and so I kept throwing him around to make him happy. He was also standing quite a bit, with me holding him. Then Sonja put him on the little car, and we were amazed how long he was able to sit on it all by himself, without anyone propping him up.

Just before 5 pm, we went back inside, which they were not happy about. I went upstairs to make their food, while Randy and Sonja kept playing with them and trying to keep them happy. Half an hour later they came upstairs to eat, then went into the bathtub and finished eating, while playing with the new suction cup animals to put on the wall, which really occupies and distracts them. Emmy was crying at first, until he got busy with the animals. Sammy was having SO MUCH fun in the water, being all wild in it and laughing out loud. Why had he not enjoyed the water at physiotherapy like that? Randy thinks because it's too loud there, with the water flowing in all the time.

I put them to bed, and tonight it was Tammy who needed me. She was crying really hard and only my presence comforted her. She may be getting more molars, so I put dental cream on her gums. She finally fell asleep, and I was able to walk away.

I made my food, ate, and then went to work. Now it's just after midnight, but I'm done with everything and can go to bed.
