HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Last night it was 3 am, when I went to bed, but it often takes me a long time to fall asleep. This morning we got up at our regular time of 8 am to feed them. After cleaning them up and dressing them, I went back to bed, and waited for Randy to pick up Sammy from me last to take him downstairs. Then I went back to bed.
My alarm woke me again at 11 am, so I could put the soup on the stove to warm up. I went back to bed until Sonja arrived at 11:30, when I needed to open the door for her. The soup wasn't really hot yet, so I turned up the heat, and started getting things ready. A few minutes later they were all able to come upstairs to eat. It's a little messy, a lentil soup, with quite a bit landing on the floor. They had some fruit and yoghurt after the soup, and then I took Emmy to the bathroom to clean him up. Sonja brought Tammy, I cleaned her, and I left them there to get the portable vaccuum cleaner out. They are afraid of it and cry, so this way it worked out good for me to vaccuum up all the lentils.
Then I put Emmy to bed, while Randy put Sammy to bed, and Sonja went downstairs with Tammy. It didn't take long for the boys to fall asleep, and I went to get Tammy and put her to bed. It took her a little time, but not very long. I cleaned up and got my food, ate it while reading the free subway paper Sonja is so kind to bring me, and then did some catching up on my phone. It got a little later than usual, before I closed my eyes for a nap. I didn't really get any. Sammy woke up first, and I went to pick him up. Then Emmy, and he wouldn't sleep on me at all. One after another they went downstairs. Then it was time to wait for Tammy. I might have fallen asleep while doing so. She woke up pretty late, about 3 pm, and I picked her up and called the others up so they could have their afternoon meal.
Once again they had fruit after their cereal and fruit jar, and then I cleaned them up and they went dowstairs with Sonja. I had some housework to do, so I stayed upstairs for a while to do that. I was glad I got the chance, as I never do. At night they sleep right there, so there are certain things I can't do. As it was getting later and I could hear Emmy fussing, I decided I needed to go downstairs and spend some time with my little ones. Precious time I'll never get back.
And I had a fun time with them, reading books, chasing them and making them laugh. Emmy decided to go into the gap between the bars and the couch, but did not like it at all. He was stuck, and we had to rescue him. I put Sammy on the rocking horse, and he always smiles for me, when I take his picture. He put his head on the head of the giraffe (that's what it really is), which was so cute, but as soon as I'd get the camera, he'd lift his head again.
5 pm came quickly, and I left them to go upstairs to make their food. Once it was nearly ready, they all came upstairs. Sonja had pointed out how they had grown, and I mentioned how long it had been since they were measured. So I decided to do it at home for the first time. We've had it all set up for a long time after all. And it went better than I had thought. We were able to measure them all. Tammy was 80 cm tall, Emmy 76.5 and Sammy 73.5.
We sat down to feed them, and then took the rest to the bathtub, where Sonja continued feeding them, while I was feeding Sammy. Suddenly Emmy started crying and clinging to me. I was kneeling at the side of the bathtub, holding Sammy, feeding him, and trying to not lose him so he'd go under. I was wondering what was going on. It will be so much easier once they can talk. Randy reminded me of what had happened just a little earlier, how Emmy had taken a tums and chewed (at least) half of it. Maybe his belly was hurting, I don't know. We finally had to get them all out of the water, because he wouldn't stop. But once he was out, he was fine. Weird.
I put them to bed, and went to get my food ready. At first they were having fun again, and twice I had to put Sammy back into position, as he was moving all over the bed. I also encouraged the other two to lie down and sleep. And in the end they did. No more having to sit with them, thank God. Emmy did start crying right after midnight, even though he'd already had some milk, and it took a while before he calmed down and went back to sleep. By now they've all had their night milk. It's the only time they drink milk any more.
After eating, I went to work, and I've been able to get a lot done. Now it's approaching 2 am, which I would like to be my bedtime, so I need to weigh up again, whether to keep working or go to bed. I still have a to-do list that's longer than I'd like.
