17 months 30 days

Time is just flying by, and things are not getting done. It's 2:30 am, and I'll probably make it to bed by 4 am again. After 4 hours of sleep I got up at 8 am this morning to make their breakfast, feed them, clean them, and dress them. Then I was holding Sammy, while Randy was taking the other two and his breakfast downstairs. Then it was my turn to sleep again, but I had less than 2 hours left, and it takes me a while to fall back asleep. At 11 am my alarm woke me up so I could go to work in the kitchen.

Randy had put Sammy down for a nap at 10:45 as he was too tired to make it until after lunch. Emmy and Tammy stayed downstairs with him. I was trying to get lunch ready by 11:30. I cooked pork chops, sauerkraut, fries, and for the kids I opened a jar of sweet potatoes with vegetables. When Randy came upstairs with them, they were sure hungry, and Tammy went straight to her chair, reaching for the food. Randy got Sammy out of bed, and we all started eating. They ate really well, but it took us a whole hour to eat today. They just LOVED the sauerkraut, and Emmy pointed at it on my plate after his was gone, so I gave him (and Tammy) more. The meat they were not so crazy about, nor the fries. But they got to use a fork for the very first time, as it worked well with the meat. I helped them stick it into the meat.

Then I brought the yoghurt out, as well as the grated apple and watermelon. Tammy is our melon girl, and she kept eating and eating, and I was wondering where all the food was going. She also loves plain yoghurt. And they enjoy putting lids on containers, so they both did. Emmy (and Tammy too) likes drinking out of containers, so he drank the apple juice, and watermelon juice, and the rest of the yoghurt. There was lots of cleaning for me to do after this meal!

Then it was time for Tammy and Emmy to lie down for a nap, and I was wondering how to do this so they would both sleep. So I put Emmy to bed, and he fell asleep quickly, and took Tammy downstairs to play, as well as Sammy. Caritas helper Christine arrived just after 1:30 to help for a few hours. Tammy seemed pretty awake. I tried once to put her to bed, but she woke up Emmy, who thankfully fell back asleep, but Tammy went back downstairs. Randy left to pick something up at the post office, and Sammy started crying, as I was upstairs. I went downstairs and held him, and noticed how tired he was. So I put him to bed at 2 pm.

At 2:30 I got their afternoon food and brought it downstairs to feed them. Emmy was up by then as well. It was pancake with peanut butter, and they did okay eating it. It was really filling.

Then it was Tammy's turn to FINALLY get her first and only nap of the day. It was 3 pm when I put her to bed, and at 4 pm I woke her up. Sammy woke up at that time, and Randy fed him.

Then the boys were downstairs to play, and there were some cute moments between these identical twins. I was alone with them, as Christine was doing some cooking for us. Emmy likes going outside, and wanted to go outside so bad. I kept telling him that we'd go outside at 4 pm. He's always rather cranky after waking up from his afternoon nap.

Just before 4 we started dressing them, and I woke the girl up last to get her ready. She was also sleepy and not too happy about all the activity at first, but it didn't last long. We took a tricycle with us that Emmy rode on the way to the playground, and Tammy on the way home. It takes about 15 minutes to get there; as expected there were a lot of kids there at that time. Emmy and Tammy were fascinated the most by all the children that were there and were just looking at everybody for a while, while standing by the slide. All three got to go down the slide a few times and really enjoyed it. They also all got to swing. When I took Tammy out so Emmy could have a turn, she was not happy at all. Neither was Emmy, when he had to come out. I've already bought a swing for at home; hopefully Randy can mount it soon.

We didn't stay long as it was late and dinner time approaching. I carried Emmy on my head for a while. I noticed that he was really quiet, and he stayed quiet after I put him in the stroller. I think he was pretty tired; he's still getting used to only one nap a day.

Once home, it was nearly 5:30, so nearly dinner time. Christine said her good-byes. The little ones never went downstairs but stayed upstairs where I was working on getting their food ready, which is challenging when they all want it now. As soon as the bread with cream cheese was ready, they sat down to eat. Thankfully Tammy and Emmy can feed themselves. Then I cut up fruit and brought it to them, but there was no time to grate an apple. I sat down to feed them their soup, but they didn't eat as much as usual of it. Still, they had eaten well, and there was hardly anything left to take to the bathtub with us, where they also drank the whole cup of leftover cereal with milk from the morning.

Then they went to bed. Emmy fell asleep right away. Tonight even Tammy did not need me to stay but fell asleep quickly. Sammy started crying again, and after a while I came and just held him for a little bit. He calmed down, and when I put him back to bed, he fell asleep.

I had more cleaning in the kitchen to do tonight, as well as some food prep for tomorrow, so somehow it got later than usual before I was done there. And I'm tired, so just maybe, I'll make it to bed before 4. No Christine until next week.
