HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
Another tough morning getting up for me. With the babies downstairs, and our bedroom upstairs, I get to sleep more in the morning, as I don't hear them as much. In fact, this morning I never even heard the babies crying that got Randy out of bed. That's how tired I was. I woke up later than usual and found that Randy had already fed all three. That meant I could take my time getting out of bed, since I had cooked two portions for Randy yesterday so he just had to warm up the second half today. Today Randy put two sheets on the mats in their play area, to make it less rough and easier for them to crawl.
Getting up late meant that I ate pretty late myself. Even more so because I had my soup and salad which I normally eat at night, since we were gonna be at a restaurant in the evening. Cutting up the salad takes time, and eating it as well. That way it was time for their second meal right then. I also had some more stuff to do, and time was just flying away. I ended up being pretty rushed with what I had to get done before leaving the house at 4:45 pm.
We left a few minutes late. Emmy hates going into the stroller these days; it's always a fight to put him in there and buckle him in. He and his sister were also pretty tired. We had two subways and a bus to take, and it was gonna be a long trip back into our old neighborhood but still further. While we were on the first subway I heard an announcement that the subway we needed was not running part of their route today, so we had to find another way to get there. I looked on my phone and we decided to take another subway second, and then have a 20 minute walk after getting off it. It meant changing subways where the out-of-order elevator causes us a 15 minute detour to get to the other subway line. Add to that the 20 minute walk in the end, and it nearly took us 90 minutes to get to the restaurant, but we were only 20 minutes late.
Everyone else was already there, my whole family, to celebrate my Mom's husband's birthday. Sammy needed a new diaper, so Randy left to change him. It was so bad he needed to put clean clothes on, and since we hadn't refilled the diaper bag in a while, he ended up with a pink and green body and no pants. At least it was a hot day.
They all kept us really busy the whole time we were there. We arrived after 6 pm, which is already their bed time. Sammy was tired, but just couldn't sleep, even when my brother took him on a stroller ride after he had finished eating. When they came back - Sammy being carried - we held him and he fell asleep on us. We flattened the stroller, and he ended up sleeping in there until the last subway taking us home.
Tammy and Emmy were very active, keeping us on our toes. Tammy kept trying to climb onto the table, wantig to cross it. They both kept trying to grab everything in reach, and we constantly had to push stuff away. One time he did grab my water glass and water poured off the table and onto my dress.
When my food came, I could not eat it for a long time. They both had enough of being held and kept on our laps and wanted to move. So I took them inside the restaurant so they could roam around free for a little bit. Emmy just took off, and I had to watch it that he wasn't crawling under a table somewhere where I could not reach him any more. After a while I returned to our table with them.
Others had finished eating and helped out with holding them, so we could eat. The waiter finally brought us a high chair that we put Tammy in, and Emmy was held by somebody else. And then they started giving them bread. Emmy likes throwing stuff onto the floor, so it was a while before he put it in his mouth - and made a face! Tammy also curiously put it in her mouth. And Daddy gave her a potato as well. They played more with it, but ate a little. They liked chewing on their silicone spoon more.
After eating, I took them inside for a second time so they'd be able to move a little. Some customer saw them and came over, trying to make friends with them. They were a little skeptical, but being friendly and smiling at him, and he ended up holding Tammy (with my permission) and helping me carry her back to our table.
It was time for Grandpa to open presents, including the fragile one I had made myself. But it was late, and it was time to start our long journey home as soon as all the presents had been opened. It was nearly 8:30 pm when we said our good-byes. Sammy was asleep in his stroller, and Emmy first protested being put in there and then slept before we even left the restaurant. Tammy followed suit just minutes later.
We only waited 2 minutes for the bus, so we rode two stops instead of walking like we had done before, which shortened our walk to the subway. And going the opposite direction, we don't have to deal with the out-of-order elevator. It still took us over an hour to get home.
Sammy woke up in the second subway, and was wide awake and smiling. When we got home I gave him milk and put him to bed. Then I changed Emmy, gave him milk, put him to bed, and did the same with Tammy. It took a little time, but not too long for them to fall asleep.
Our evening was shorter than usual, so we both just did the essentials, and Randy got to go to bed at his regular time, and it looks like I will too, though I would like to go to bed earlier so getting up gets easier in the morning.
