It's 3:10 am, and I'm just so very tired! What kept me up tonight is writing a way-overdue email update, and then working on getting the documents together for Randy's permit. And I haven't even done the dishes yet! Or finished editing today's pictures.
It was after 4 am again when I got to sleep, as babies woke up at 4 again. I'd like to start feeding them "real" food in the high chairs, and to feed them all at the same time, but I'm just so tired when I get up to feed them their lunch.
Today my Mom came to our new place for the very first time. Sammy was taking his lunch nap, and the other two were pretty tired. My Mom joined them in their play area, and they had the greatest time for the next 3 hours. When Sammy woke up, he joined them there. Emmy took a short nap, but Tammy never actually slept all afternoon.
We made one interesting observation. Yesterday I put up this little bench the physiotherapist had given us (as the hospital was throwing it away), and I put it inside for them to sit on. Instead, Tammy simply stepped onto it and could see better over the shelves that way. I thought nothing about it. Until Emmy tried to do the same and simply could not do it! He kept trying, but could not yet step up like she did.
My Mom helped feed them their middle meal, and also ended up feeding Tammy and Emmy at the same time, before I finished feeding them. Emmy simply opens his mouth, so it works pretty well. While I was feeding Tammy, and my Mom was on the phone elsewhere, Emmy was crying, alone in the play area. I pointed out to him that the entrance had been left open, and he happily crawled out towards me, and then passed me. He was on a discovery tour! Just before my Mom left, both of them crawled out of the area, and were crawling so fast, you really had to watch where they were going!
Randy was not home in the afternoon as the lady who canceled Tuesday was gonna come clean the old apartment today. After he had left, she texted me that once again she was not coming. How frustrating! Randy was pretty much there already, so he ended up doing some things and returned home just as my Mom was leaving.
It was bed time for the little ones, and as Tammy hadn’t slept, I had high hopes that she’d fall asleep fast. She was too tired to eat much.
I put Sammy to bed first, then I went to get Tammy. It had been really hot, and she was dirty, so I put her in the bathtub and turned the shower hose on. She didn’t like it at all, even though she’s used to it from the swimming pool. I put her to bed, and she looked like she was about to fall asleep. Then Randy brought up Emmy, and it was over. They started standing up and playing with each other, and I knew that the smartest thing to do was to just sit there and let them play until they got tired. If I left, they’d start crying, so I stayed and got my computer as I had some important things to write down from memory. Emmy finally got tired and lay down so sleep. But Tammy, now alone, stood there looking at me crying. I had to put her down over and over before she finally fell asleep.
It was pretty late before I was done eating dinner and started writing the newsletter. So my hopes of going to bed before 4 am were shattered again.
