This morning I rocked Tammy to sleep and we both slept, as it was still before my getting up time. I woke up when I heard Sammy cry hard. I called Randy, but he had gone shopping, which was much-needed. So I gently let Tammy slip out of my arm and got up to pick up Sammy and returned to bed with him. When I got back, Tammy's head was up. She was awake! So I ended up with two babies that were awake, and they had fun. I aways enjoy it when Sammy smiles and laughs!
It was Emmy who had a hard day today, or actually the last few days. He just wants to be held all the time. And when you put him down, he cries. You're not the only baby, Emmy! And sometimes grown-ups just have to do things they can't do with a baby on their arm!
They were all awake when it was time to leave the house at 3:15 pm to go to church. The chairs at church are all sitting apart, so we had plenty of space for our strollers and for the babies to crawl on the ground. I don't even know why I put blankets down! Emmy went on discovery tour, crawling under the video camera platform right next to us.
Tammy was more interested in the papers she found, crumpling it up, and Emmy joined her as well. She tried to pull herself up on our legs a few times. One time she fell on her head and cried - and that was not when she tried to stand up.
Sammy fell asleep in Randy's arms pretty soon after arriving. Towards the end of the service he was awake again, and the other two were getting tired. Emmy wanted to be held again, and Tammy was really tired. So Randy put Sammy on the ground and held Emmy, while I was holding Tammy. Tammy actually fell asleep on my chest. Emmy kept moving and playing and challenging Daddy.
What was amazing to watch was that Sammy was lying on the floor and just smiling and even laughing! Especially when Randy took his hat to fan him. He loves the feel of wind! I think he was seeing angels and having fun with the Lord; he does not act like this at home.
After the service we enjoyed talking to some people. I was standing holding sleeping Tammy and realized that this girl was heavy now, with her 7.5 kilos (16.5 lbs). My arm started to hurt where I was holding her weight up! I finally put her in the stroller as we were about to leave, and she kept sleeping for a little bit. Emmy fell asleep on the way home.
Back home, it was later than when they usually eat, but I still got their third meal of the day ready, and we fed them all and put them to bed. They were all tired. Emmy was frantic, but I was determined to not pick him up tonight. I kept going to his bed and stroking his head. He'd calm down, but as soon I'd walk away, he started screaming. He cried less and less until he fell asleep.
Now Tammy was really tired, and as I was stroking her, I believed she'd fall asleep if I could keep going until she was asleep. Unfortunately I switched with Randy, walking over to Emmy's bed, and it was too tough on his back. He ended up taking her out and rocking her to sleep like he's been doing for the past at least 2 weeks.
And while they were all sleeping tonight, I did something I rarely get to do anymore, though I love doing it: take a hot bath. I stayed in there longer than I should have, as it means I lost all this time when I could have worked and will be going to bed later than usual tonight. Just I got out, Emmy started crying. I'm not sure if it was the loud boom outsidet hat woke him up. It seems that there were some fireworks going on, even though it's not our independence day. I fed him and he continued sleeping. I'm sure I'll feed him one more time before the morning.
