HEALING 2 THE NATIONS INTERNATIONAL
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance. (Ps 2:8)
It was a night and morning like any other, feeding them during the night, Randy getting up around 7:30, giving them all milk, and my alarm going off at 8:50 to make their cereal with milk and feed them. Except that they did not lie down at 9:15 for their morning nap, as usual. Today they had their second swimming lesson of the new course. So instead of lying down, we got them ready to leave, put them in the strollers, got ourselves ready and left to take the two subways to the pool.
And today we got there really early, as the subway came right away. None of the babies had slept in the stroller, even though it was nap time. We then had to wait for half an hour, as my Mom was late. I made circles with Tammy and Emmy, as I did not want to take them out of the stroller, and Randy got Sammy out.
My Mom finally arrived and we went inside; it takes some time to put the plastic wheel covers on the strollers as we roll them all the way to the pool.
We took the elevator to the changing rooms, got ready ourselves, and then took different elevators back up to the pool. We quickly changed them, as the rest of the class was already in the water and waiting for us. Both boys had dirty diapers, but Randy had left the diaper bag in the locker room, so I simply took naked Emmy to the shower with me and rinsed him off, before putting the swim diaper on, and Randy did the same.
Before we went into the pool, we were informed about the new stricter rules because of the rising Corona numbers. Last time there were 9 babies. Today there were 6 babies, and we were split into two groups of 3 babies each. I'm sure you can guess which 3 babies were in our group. We also had a substitute teacher today, and she was not as good. I didn't feel like we were doing much today. I had Tammy, my Mom Emmy, and Randy Sammy, but my Mom dunked Emmy right in the beginning and he was not happy, so we switched.
The half hour always goes by too fast; we pay for 3 hours, but it's lunch time, so it's not practical for anybody to stay longer. I hope we can do it some time though.
We had to say our good-byes to Grandma, and headed to the subway to go home. Emmy was asleep before we even left. Tammy fell asleep a while later, and Sammy never fell asleep.
While we were waiting for the first subway, there was an announcement that there was a problem with 3 subway lines that were not operating for part of the track and that they did not know how long it would take to be resolved. Great! How to get home now? The subway only ran to the main train station - which was a blessing as there was a train from there going straight to our home. Still, it took longer than usual, as the trains only run every half hour, at least the ones where you don't have to carry the stroller up a few steps. It was 1:15 when we got home, nearly two hours after the class ended. That's really long.
Our friend Sonja had just arrived before us. I was so thankful she was there to help. She's just great with the babies. I put their food into the warmer, and she played with them. It didn't take long before we got to feed them; I fed Tammy and she ate it pretty fast. She'd been hungry, but it was also two hours later than usual!
As Sammy had not slept yet and was tired, we put him to bed and he ended up sleeping a long time. In the meantime Sonja played with the other two, and they showed her how they ride their car, with one sitting and one pushing. Randy was cooking his famous omelets for himself and me, and it was 2 pm before we got to eat.
I had a lot of office work to get done and immediately started working after eating. Then Sammy woke up, and another friend came to help Randy finish putting up the mirror foils on the remaining windows. At times Sammy wasn't happy and I had to hold him. When our friend Erich held him, he immediately stopped crying and was content. I was amazed at Sammy's reaction!
The guys finished the foils fast, while Sonja was playing with the triplets, and I tried to crunch numbers for the financial report. Time went by fast. We fed them their afternoon meal at 3:30, and at 5 I went to the kitchen to get their dinner ready, which we fed them at 5:30. That way it was only half an hour later than usual. Tammy and Emmy were tired, though they were not as cranky as usual. They had never slept again since their nap in the stroller.
We fed them all at the dining room table. I fed Emmy, and as always, he did not want to be in the high chair for long. Once out, I have to run after him to put more food into his mouth, which works, but I don't really like it. How to teach him to sit while eating?!?
We changed them and put them to bed with a bottle. Emmy fell asleep right away, and the girl needed a little more time and help. I had to hold Sammy to give him his milk, and after he was full, he was also happy to sleep.
I then returned to the office to work and finish my financial report for the board meeting tomorrow. I had some serious issues, but thankfully they were resolved. I ended up eating pretty late, as I had wanted to finish this first.
Recently I have not been able to keep up with all the office work, as I've been trying to go to bed earlier and get more sleep. However, I don't know what's better. Get things done, get little sleep and be tired all day, or not getting anything done, get more sleep and not be as tired all day long. I'm shooting for 2 am again tonight, so I have a little time left for work, though not enough.
